I have said more than once that my goal was to post once a week about all the things we do in the Knight ES Media Center. I have started several times and failed to stick with it. Making a weekly post is now on my calendar every week. Hopefully, that will be enough of a reminder to stop, reflect, and write about the week. So here it goes.
I do plan to post a few more times and share some things that have occurred since the beginning of the school year. For starters, let's talk about this week. My weekly post will be long since it is a summary of our week and a lot happens in the media center in a week.
We had CoGAT testing on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday. This led to numerous classes being unable to visit during their normal time. I led the charge and began reschduling classes. I had planned some great activities and did not want any students to miss out.
Kindergarten
We are still working on making Mr. Wiggle happy by taking care of our books and using shelf markers. This week I introduced the SMARTBoard to classes and we played a matching game with images that made Mr. Wiggle happy and sad. Students are always fascinated by the SMARTBoard and love to be able to use it.
First Grade
Classes were introduced to the Light Bulb Lab and the numerous choices they could make after checking out. We discussed behavior expectations and how to share and work together. With the school-wide theme focusing on growth mindset, students and I talked about how we can make our brains stronger. This connection was made to the different activities in the Light Bulb Lab and how they would help our brains grow.
